Our mission is to empower South Sudanese girls and women through quality education. The progress of every community and nation largely depends on its ability to include women and girls. Our educational programs teach essential skills and use proven-successful methodologies.
Challenges and Opportunities in South Sudan
After many years of civil war, South Sudan became an independent nation in 2011. Since then, South Sudan has been involved in two wars (2013 and 2016) and suffered flooding that impacted most of Jonglei state, where Abraham Atem Foundation’s South Sudan office is located. The wars and flooding interrupted education. There are great opportunities for education at many levels – from basic life skills to technical and business skills. Learn more
